In December 2012, tiny SVS Robotics Team became a David vs. Goliath story-brought-to-life by defeating all competing high schools on the eastern seaboard in the overall regional B.E.S.T. Robotics competition.

They were the youngest, smallest, and least-funded team in the finals...and also the overall winners! This little team, from a little school, that does not even have a gym had to put up and take down the practice field in the cafeteria every single night for over a month.

But clearly perseverance and determination paid off, and now this small and mighty team has been invited to Washington, DC to demonstrate its robot in the White House Science Fair on Monday, April 22nd!

Once again rising to a challenge, the team was given less than a week's notice of the invitation...and told they could not use any media outlets to raise funds for its trip until the official White House press release.  That official release came just over 24 hours before they need to depart for Washington.

Strictly via email and word-of-mouth, they raised within $5,000 of the needed funds for the trip! Every single Catholic school in the area pitched in to help them raise the needed money to bring the history-making team to the White House!  Additionally, countless other individuals and families donated whatever they could to the cause.

The school motto 'Start Small, Think BIG!' seems to be more accurate than ever!
